Bio

The is a journal for a Harry Potter RPG. Harry Potter and everything about him, etc. is owned by J.K. Rowling, and no copyright infringment is intended. Just trying to have a spot of fun, I promise!

The Basics

Character Name: Emma Moon

Age: 20
Birthday: April 5, 1980
Wand: Ash and werewolf hair, 9 1/2 in., sharp and unyielding.
House in School: Slytherin
Bloodline: Pureblood

Political View: Emma has always believed what she wants to believe. She absorbs the information given or found, and produces her own opinion. Currently, she believes the Ministry to be completely off their blocks. She was hardly raised to love everyone, but throwing hapless innocents in jail to save face? Pathetic, if not a bit deranged. As for pureblooded supremacy... indecent. Half in not more of the population is muggle or half blood. Why on Earth would you piss off half or more of the world...? There is no sense in it!
She hasn’t had an opportunity to join any groups (The Order, or any others for that matter) because of several reasons. One, she is a pureblood with parents that believe whole-heartedly in Pureblood Supremacy. Two, as a Hogwarts student she was a Slytherin, and while not a cheerleader for many of her houses’ antics, she didn’t do a whole lot to make them stop, either. Three, she didn’t play a massive part in the war. She wasn’t actively for either side, and thus would be considered a ‘neutral party.’ People don’t tend to seek out the neutral party to convince, they take people who are already ready and willing to be apart of something.
Not that she really cares a whole lot that she isn’t in a ‘group’ or a ‘party.’ She’s always preferred to make her own way, at any rate.

Appearance

Height: 5'6"
Weight: 138lbs.
Eyes: Her eyes seem to be narrowed and to the regular onlooker they give her a haughty look. They are an olive green color with a gold rim about the iris.
Hair: Emma's hair is a very dark red, auburn if you want to be technical. It's no where near the trademark Weasly red, rather much more subdued. She wears her hair long, tapering to a point at the small of her back. Her bangs are swept to the sides of her face and fade in with the length of her hair.
Build: She is of a slender build, a bit leggy.
Dress Style: She isn't one for accessories, and isn't the type to spend 4+ hours in front of the mirror everyday. Instead she opts for nice robes, tending to be shorter in the front than in the back. She isn't below certain muggle fashions, and has several pairs of striped socks that she is rather attached too. Overall, she has no defined style, per say. It all depends on the occasion, the people and whether a statement needs to be made.
Defining Marks: She is Irish, and thus has a fair sprinkling of light freckles across her chest and shoulders. She has a beauty mark on her left cheek towards the far left of her right eye. She has tattered bat wings tattooed onto her back, something her parents are loathe to share with most anyone. Last, she has a few claw-like scars on her back right shoulder blade.

Personality

Strengths: Emma has a particular talent with potions. She is no Serverus Snape, but she can certainly do well for herself in this aspect. She's witty and tends to be able to come up with thoughts or ideas based mostly on spur of the moment. She is also rather good with numbers. Arithmancy came easy to her during her Hogwarts years. She was one of the few who wished to go out for a NEWT in the subject. (She held a respect for Hermione Granger who seemed to whiz through the subject with hardly a backwards glance and while she isn’t quite as good, she’s chewing on Granger’s heels.)
Weaknesses: She's hardheaded and when she's made up her mind about something, its hard to change her mind... for better or worse. Her spell casting leaves something to be desired, which is why she's always been more of a potions and numbers kind-of-girl. She could never bring herself kill another human being and would probably have a hard time killing an animal less it's attempting to kill her first. She has a bit of a problem trusting people and tends to think of any way possible for someone to be trying to use her, or any of her skills to their advantage. She distances herself from people and their petty excuses for lives.
Likes: She enjoys meaningful conversations, heated arguments, questions about her odd socks or stockings, her old stuffed rabbit (affectionatly referred to as Mr. J.B. Bunny), Cuckoo clocks, people who think for themselves, classical poetry, sweet potatoes with cinnamon, rubber ducks and old Muggle movies.
Dislikes: Emma dislikes typical things mostly-- spiders and cockroaches for starters. She has an intense dislike for crowds, especially crowds of people staring at her. It doesn't make her nervous, per say, instead it agitates her. A sort of, 'Well, what do you expect me to do?!' sort of look or behavior follows. She also dislikes (read as: hates and/ or loathes) people attempting to push any thought or belief down her throat. She also doesn’t enjoy, in no particular order, the color yellow, gaudy jewelry, modern art, and jazz.
Quirks: When nervous Emma will chew on the bottom corner of her lip and she will tend to look anywhere but where she is supposed to. She also has a habit of wearing odd colored nail polish, and changes it daily. She always smells like milk and honey (as this is her body wash) and taps her fingers when she is bored (as in taps them relentlessly... to the point of supreme agitation).
General: Emma is fairly intelligent for her age, and likes to think of herself as pretty much in control. As a student at Hogwarts she was sorted into the Slytherin house for several reasons aside from her Pureblooded heritage. For one, she is relentless. If beaten down, she was come back for more, each time more vicious than the last. She is truly wiling to use any means to meet her ends, however unlike many other Slytherin students her 'ends' are somewhat blurry and she hasn't quite found them yet. She is sure she doesn't support her parents and their petty wants and she knows the Ministry is incorrect in most all their doings.
She is realistic rather than pessimistic. She isn't afraid to tell someone that yes, that dress does make your ass look big and God does that hairstyle look just atrocious! While she doesn’t randomly walk up to people and give her opinion, she will have no qualms in giving it if asked for it.
Emma can be called blunt at times and usually she is blunt out of disinterest. Someone will ask what she thinks of something and she will tell them in the shortest possible means that she thinks it’s the worst idea/ opinion/ thought/ belief she’s ever heard without even so much as a smile.
From all that one could gather that Emma is rather rude and disinterested in people. While she can be both, everyone has a softer side. Emma can be female and can also be a nice person. When presented while an argument that she has an interest in and is being debated in a way that makes her think, she can really shine. She loves being engaged in conversation that means something or that is interesting rather than simply, ‘How’s the weather’ types.

Psychology

Extrovert/Introvert: A bit of both. She doesn’t try to let everyone know her feelings, but if presented with the opportunity to discuss how she feels… she will not hold back out of shyness or unwillingness to hurt someone’s feelings.
Boggart Would Be: Her boggart would produce itself as many people, faceless and pressing in against her, touching her everywhere. She is very adamant about people keeping their hands to themselves and away from any part of her body (not just her naughty parts), especially her face. So, ultimately, it would be a crowd of unidentifiable people touching, prodding and examining her face and body.
Patronus Would Be: A reddish brown fox. Emma is coolly intelligent and can come off as rather sneaky. The fox always knows what’s going on around it and is relentless in the search for its prey.
Emma has only produced this once of twice and never out of a true need. She knows she can come up with one, but as you’ll read… spell casting isn’t her forte, so she won’t necessarily produce her Patronus every time she attempts this spell.

Sexuality

Emma has never really considered herself anything but straight. Women are beautiful, but not in a way that sexually appeals to her. She's always just found more of a solace in men. A man fills a certain void that, to Emma, no woman could. For her, anyway.

Lifestyle

Occupation: St. Mungo's Potion Brewer.
Residence: A small flat in London near St. Mungo's. She tries to take as little money from her parents as possible, should they wish to collect their debts one day.
Financial Status: Mid-class, one could say. Her salary pays for the things she wants, and the rest of the lovely things she has, her parents bought for her when she was younger.

Family

Mother: Abigale Louise Moon; a fairly tall and slender woman. A daughter of a pureblood family (Abhainn), and rather snooty. She thinks her daughter is trying to be a 'rebel', and is just following a fad. She seems certain that Emma will eventually settle with the Purebloods over the 'little issues' at hand.
Father: Marcus Gene Moon; A sturdy man with dark sideburns and almost purely Irish decent. He too comes from a long line of purebloods, and sits with his wife in his political views. He seems to know that Emma isn't quite turning out how he was planning and isn't as sure of her 'true' views as his wife is.
Siblings: none
Family Dynamics: Abigale and Marcus are pureblood supremacists and are on the registry with good reason. They were suspected DE's but nothing was ever proven. Emma got along well enough with her parents as a student. She was at school most of the year, and tended not to go home on breaks. Her father used to be somewhat doting on her before he found that she just wasn't turning out as he had hoped. Thusly, his affections have been rather turned off. Emma and her mother have never really gotten along, but Abigale has always held hope for her only child. Hope only a mother could have. To bad this mother is rather unhinged in her beliefs and is willing to do a lot to persuade her daughter to believe the things she does.

History from student days at Hogwarts to the present time

Emma’s childhood was that of a normal spoiled pureblood child. She got just about anything she wanted, and held her prejudices out of respect for her parents. When she was, of course, eleven she received her letter to Hogwarts. She was warned that Hogwarts accepted many people even those unfit to attend. She went to the school expecting to be able to immediately be able to pick out these ‘unfit’ people. However, upon boarding the train she found herself stupefied. Everyone looked the same. No one looked particularly unfit to be there. No one really stood out as being a ‘blood traitor’ or a ‘mudblood’ or a ‘half-blood.’ While on the train, and during her first year she mulled over these thoughts and thoughts on her family.
She was never popular by any means. Being sorted into Slytherin ensured that at least two thirds of the school kept their distance from her. On top of being Slytherin, she was unusually quiet in school unless provoked or presented with an interesting topic of discussion… which was rare.
Emma was in the same year as the trio and though she had seen them in school and such, she’d never had an inclination to get to know any of the more popular Gryffindor’s, or even the more popular of any of the house’s for that matter. She always felt it easier to go by things in the simplest way possible.

Emma finished Hogwarts, and I am using the word ‘finished’ loosely, as she was never able to sit her NEWTs due to the school being turned into a Military base in her 7th year. She trained with the others of her year, again never really having much contact with Harry or the rest of the trio, if any. She did what needed to be done for ‘training’ and did well enough, average so to speak. A lot of the training had to do with, of course, spell casting. As we know, this wasn’t and still isn’t her best attribute, so she did about as well as could be expected, but didn’t give up at any rate. She is waiting for the school to reopen so she can take (and hopefully pass with flying colors) her NEWTs for Potions, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes.

After graduation she’d heard of the opening at St. Mungo’s through none other than her Father and while loathe to be in his debt, went to the interview anyway. Thankfully, St. Mungo’s hired her, and taught her the few things that Hogwarts hadn’t. She’s been working at St. Mungo’s for a total of about two years now, only about 10 months of it being as a true Potion Brewer instead of just a trainee.

As for the war and how it affected Emma… it sort of threw her for a loop. She’d always felt the pressure from her parents to be a good pureblooded daughter, to marry well and have lots of children. She’d always felt that they weren’t really ‘good people’ in a sense and when they seemed distraught at Voldemort’s defeat… she had decided to leave them behind and only ask for help when she truly needed it. After all, they were her parents and aside from intuition she didn’t know if they were truly evil, or just misguided (or deranged perhaps.) She still loved them even though their own love for her seemed (seems) to be waning…
Now-a-days she lives alone in her flat, her mother calling on her about once a week to ask stupid questions Emma has no care to answer. She has bashed heads with her parents over the ‘mudblood’ issue more times than she’d care to remember and is currently rather worn out about the whole thing. Currently she’d like nothing more than to just wake up, go to work, come home, relax and repeat the process.
